Which casino is closest to me?

Choose a region and the list sorts all 31 locations by travel time. For St. Gallen it is the local casino, then Bregenz (40 min); for Geneva Meyrin (15 min), then Annemasse; for Lugano Casino Lugano, then Campione (15 min); for Basel the Grand Casino, then Ribeauvillé (60 min).

How do I know whether the casino is open right now?

The status is calculated live in Swiss time from the operator's opening hours – separately for table games and slots. Confirm public holidays and special openings with the venue.

Do I really need ID abroad?

Yes, without exception. In Austria, Germany, France, Italy and Liechtenstein an official original ID is required at the entrance – passport or identity card. Phone photos, copies and driving licences are not enough.

Why is the minimum age 21 in Germany?

Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria set it in their casino laws. This affects Konstanz, Baden-Baden and Lindau. Bregenz, Liechtenstein, France and Italy admit from 18.

Can I play with Swiss francs?

In Liechtenstein and Campione d'Italia yes. In Austria and France the euro is the gaming currency; whether CHF are exchanged varies from house to house. In Germany only the euro counts.

How accurate are distance and travel time?

Travel times are car estimates from the regional centre without traffic and border waiting time; kilometres are road estimates. For your exact route open the Google Maps link on every casino page.

Do I need a vignette for Bregenz?

On the A14 yes – the vignette is strictly enforced. If you take the main road from Höchst or Lustenau you need none and lose only a few minutes.

Do I have to pay tax on winnings?

Winnings from foreign casinos are taxable income in Switzerland. Winnings from Swiss casinos are tax-free. We do not give tax advice – ask your cantonal tax administration.

Does my Swiss exclusion apply in Bregenz or Konstanz?

No. The Swiss exclusion works only in Swiss casinos. Abroad, separate systems apply (Germany OASIS, France ANJ). Anyone excluded should not go.

Where can I get without a car?

Bregenz and Konstanz by rail, Annemasse by Léman Express, Évian by boat from Lausanne, Campione by boat or bus from Lugano. Lindau by rail with a change in Bregenz. Divonne and Ribeauvillé need a bus or taxi for the last stretch.

What should I wear?

For slots, neat casual is enough everywhere. For table games: Baden-Baden jacket mandatory, Konstanz jacket requested (rental €10), Bregenz smart casual, France 'tenue correcte' without sportswear.

Does Casino Nähe earn money from the casinos?

No. We have no business relationship with the venues described, receive no commissions and publish no bonuses or vouchers. The assessments are editorial, not user reviews.
